Short Video Sharing App Kuaishou Faces Uncertainties in Competition With Its Popular Rival TikTok

The two major short video sharing apps in China, TikTok and Kuaishou, have always had obvious differences in styles. Compared with the aggressiveness of TikTok, Kuaishou’s strategy is sluggish. On TikTok, once a short video goes viral, all users will be fed with a large amount of similar contents in a very short time. Same thing rarely happens on Kuaishou which is widely seen as a popular alternative rival to TikTok. As a matter of fact, Kuaishou was once a pioneer in the field of short video sharing platforms and has seized lione’s share of market opportunities.

In addition, Kuaishou’s performance in the capital market is equally worrysome. Since the middle of this year, Kuaishou’s share price has continued to fall, losing up to 80 percent of its value. Some investors presume that Kuaishou can catch up with TikTok by spending more money on promotion, but it turned out to be in vain. The short video sharing market has developed to this day, and the situation has become much more complicated. Kuaishou’s future strategic choices will directly determine its destiny.

Three Months After Record-Breaking Rainfall Flooded Henan, Many People’s Lives Have Been Changed

Three months have passed since Henan witnessed unprecedented heavy rains, and the stagnant water in some places has not receded, which has caused a lot of trouble to the lives of local people and their agricultural production. Caijing’s reporters went deep into some villages in Henan to find how the lives of local farmers had been changed. Among these villages, Zhancheng is one of the mostly affected towns. Days of rain has caused widespread damage there. Today, the shadow of this flood is still lingering.

There are some weak links in the current flood control work in rural Henan. For a long time, rural flood control and drainage and other water conservancy infrastructure have been constructed and maintained in the form of voluntary work by farmers. With the development of urbanization, in the past 20 years, a large number of young people in rural areas have gone to big cities to make a living, and the model of relying on villagers to maintain rural water conservancy facilities has hence become unsustainable.

China’s 35-Year-Olds in Tech Feel Aching Anxiety from Ageism

In recent years, age has suddenly become an enduring topic, which triggers several large-scale media discussions every year. Some 35-year-olds working in tech may presume that this age anxiety is exaggerated on social media. But the reality is cold and cruel. In 2021, these software engineers born in 1986 have successively come to their 35th birthday. Every year thereafter, the number of Internet engineers over 35 years old will increase rapidly. In the past month or so, reporters from Caijing interviewed more than a dozen software developers in Internet companies, revealing their anxiety about age and their future.

Today, all industries need the Internet and software personnel. However, the benefits of most industries are much lower than those of the Internet industry. The sense of crisis brought by age stimulates these tech guys to wake up. Everyone has a more realistic judgment about this profession and their own future, and they no longer have any unrealistic fantasies.

Enormous COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered on Chinese Mainland

The vaccination volume of China’s COVID-19 vaccine continues to increase. As of December 1, 2021, more than 2.5 billion doses have been administered nationwide. At the same time, the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus was reported in South Africa and European countries, and the World Health Organization (WHO) quickly listed it as a new threat and warned that this Omicron variant could lead to more infections.

Under the new round of uncertainty posed by Omicron, the WHO issued a statement saying that the existing vaccines are still the effective way of protection. China is also launching booster vaccination doses across the country, and the demand for the vaccine continues to rise. Which companies can get the most market profits from it?
