Artificial intelligence, humanoid robot, low-altitude economy, automatic driving, new energy storage, biomedicine have been regarded as the key industries across China. Behind this is the rapid layout of strategic emerging industries and future industries, as well as an important initiative to develop new quality productive forces.
Since Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced the term “new quality productive forces” during his visit to Heilongjiang Province in September last year, there has been a surge in the development of new quality productive forces across the country.
Liu Shijin, deputy director of the Economic Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, said in an interview with Caijing that a significant increase in total factor productivity is the core symbol of the new quality productive forces. As China is overcoming the middle-income trap and moving towards a moderately developed country, enhancing total factor productivity is essential. The emergence of new quality productive forces not only implies changes in productivity and socio-economic levels, but also profound changes in production relations and social systems.
